Solved Switching between wifi signals?

Specs: Android
My older android tablet was very good at knowing where it was in the house and switching automatically to the best wireless signal for that room from (say) the main BT Hub to one of the WiFi extenders that I use to boost the signal.

My new Samsung Tab A 2016 doesn't do this. I have to manually get it to find WiFi signal sources and choose the one I know will be best for a location.

Any suggestions how I can get it to do this for itself like my phone does?

I have two routers, one of which is used solely as a WiFi extender. They are located in each end of the house. Both have the same SSID and the same passphrase, but use different channels, as far apart as possible. The WiFi extender also work on 5 GHz with a separate SSID and passphrase, to serve guestrooms located in the basement just underneath.
Both phones and tablets switch seamlessly to the strongest signal.
