You may have to perform a factory reset - this has been an issue plaguing quite a few users of the Samsung Intercept. You might also try the following before resorting to that:

1.) Go to Settings
2.) Account Settings
3.) Add New
4.) Select Google Account
5.) username @ gmail . com
6.) password
7.) once connected in the accounts then it's all set up for the other applications.
