Good Day,

I have this Blu Life Play 2 android phone and this is the problem with it. It keeps installing random apps especially porn. The phone is not mine, it belongs to a friend. I was told that it was hacked but I believ that she installed an app that had some sort of virus or malware. I have done a scan and it has returned negative results for viruses. I have done a factory reset with the same results. I have tried rooting the phone, but I cannot get in install a custom recovery. Was thinking this is the only way to get over that hurdle. I want to flash a custom rom,but I need to get a recovery installed. I have tried MKTools, Rashr, and Flashify. They all have indicated that they have installed a recovery img to the phone. But when I get when I try to start in recovery it doesn't. Phone just boots as normal. Can you suggest a way that I can insatll a custom rom to this phone, and flashingh a recovery to it? Also the phone reboots on its' own, any ideas on a cause and fix?

Because you have gone to lengths to install a custom ROM I would be surprised if you haven't already tried both of the pre-installed methods of soft and hard resets. However here is a quick rundown of both techniques:

Soft reset (please note this method may vary slightly between updates)

On the phone go to:

All settings

Backup and reset

Factory data reset

Important Select the option to "Format phone storage"

Reset phone

Hard reset

Power off the phone

Press and hold the volume down button

Press and hold the power button

Keep holding both buttons in until you see the factory mode text then release both buttons

Press the volume down button until the "Clear eMMC" option is highlighted

Press the power button to confirm the selection of this option

Text will appear at the top of the screen telling you the phone is Formatting data

Once either of these methods has completed the phone should power up normally presenting you with a welcome screen indicating the factory restore was a success.

However if you have already attempted these resets without success and wish to continue exploring installing a custom ROM can I point you in the direction of the folks at xda-developers. They are the gurus in everything that is associated with rooting an android device.
