New plan vs. billing cycle?

I want to switch to a new cell phone plan. I may not be able to switch until a few days into the start of my next current billing cycle. Does that matter? Or is it better to make the switch at the end of the current billing cycle? I ask because I'm expecting an important call and don't want to switch until I take the call. My current bill cycle ends August 15. I expect the call on the 16th. Can I switch plans, say on the 17th, even though I'll be one/two days into the billing cycle of the old plan? Thanks.

Forgot to mention that the old and new plans will be with the same carrier.

Perhaps best place to check is with your carrier?

As trvlr states...

You may be pro-rated for the days you are in the plan before the cycle ends, or they may just start a new cycle on the first day of the new plan...but again, that's the discretion of the carrier.

As you mentioned in your previous posts, there are (likely) many plans available through AT&T and figuring them all out would be difficult at best....but realize that's where the trap lies (in getting the customer paying for a plan far-beyond what they really need).
