I see these advertiised associated with cell phone carriers. I'd like to have a 7 inch tablet that I can take to the Philippines and connect to internet over there via their cell networks: Globe, Smart, Sun etc. I can connect over there with my netbook and a little USB gizmo that picks up the Smart signal... a "Smart Bro". I buy "load" by the 100s pesos increments. Would one of these Samsung galaxy Tablets work for my needs to connect to internet on a network other than the USA cell networks? Thanks, Jim message edited by JimDZ
Hi Jim... Your TABLET can make DATA connections? WiFi YES, but DATA? I'll go with it. Get Text-Free, makes calls & Text msgs. Requires a few seconds to review a site or app, but it gives around 150 minutes for each one. FireChat, permits the TABLET to transmit "in the cloud", NO CONNECTION NECESSARY, *BUT*, both SENDER & RECEIVER need the FireChat app. MUSTACHE, permits ANONYMOUS TEXT MESSAGES, & it gives you a PHONE # too!! Message anyone & ONLY YOU need the MUSTACHE app. I found my # by texting myself, & it came as the NAME OF CONTACT.
Let me try calling it... NO, TEXT ONLY.
Finally, Text Free gives you the Dial & Msg. But GOOGLE VOICE works just fine, CALLS and TEXT MSGS.
I hope this helps you!!
TO CONNECT TO INTERNET ABROAD, TRY WhatsApp..
