How to completely erase Android phone before selling

I purchased a brand new Galaxy S8 and want to trade in my old Galaxy S5. I want to know how to delete all data on the phone so no one could see my privacy.

Make sure that you have anything you want to keep backed up before you do this because it will wipe everything. Go to Settings > Backup & reset > Factory data reset and then tap Reset phone or Reset device

I heard the data is still recoverable after a simple factory reset. Is that true?

For the most part no, but I worked for a company years ago (2010) that refurbished phones and I saw the engineers with stuff (mainly NSFW pics) that they had retrieved off of phones that were supposedly "reset". Nonetheless, make sure to remove the SD card before resetting (and make sure not to reinstall it)...

That is what I am worried about. Sorry for not updating in here. Just forgot it. I tested 5 apps but only this one worked: http://www.safewiper.com/tutorials/...

No data being scanned by other software.
