Download Manager versus Downloads

Specs: Win 7
On my Android 4.4.2 tablet, two apps are listed: Download Manager
and Downloads. What is the relationship between them?

Hi Jeff,

Download Manager sounds like an app or program, and Downloads is probably just a folder where you can store the downloads.

Fast reply! That does sound right, but both are listed under
the "Apps" section of Settings, in the "All" column. Would a
folder really be listed like an app there? I can see how it is a
special folder, intended for the human to access, but I don't
see any other folders in the list.

From what I read (and I'm not familiar with Android) it's an app that will show you recent downloads.

That's correct. "Downloads" is just a link to the list of downloaded files (you don't really think in terms of folders on Android, but that's what it really is).

"Download Manager" is not part of a standard Android installation, so it must be an App that either you or the manufacturer have installed. It sounds fairly self-evident what it is (but who needs download managers?).
