Disable sending of address to Google?

June 22, 2017 at 09:08:47
Specs: several
Tablet computer running Android 4.2.2 and using the default
Android web browser. When I type into the address bar, Google
searches for matches as I type. Is it possible to stop sending
what is typed into the address bar until I hit the "Go" key?
Is it possible to bypass Google completely and just send the
URL I type to my ISP, like I'd expect with any other browser?

Is this controlled in Firefox 53.0.2 ? Other browsers?

I don't any droid OSs, but maybe the browser allows you to change the default search engine? Or, change the search options to not provide search suggestions. In Firefox, you would click on the search field and Change Search Settings to get to this feature.

The only options are Google, Yahoo!, and Bing. No indication of how
to select any other.

No such option in the Android default browser.

I installed Firefox about 6 weeks ago, but haven't used it much.
I forget why. Most everything in my life has changed recently.
