Can flash drive files be deleted by torrent site or OS?

September 3, 2020 at 19:50:36
Specs: Chrome OS, Chromium OS 13099 4 gig
Files from my flash disappeared inadvertently when plugged in. It won't even be recognized on any other device.

I failed to state that the OS is Chrome and the torrent site is UTorrent Pro for Android.

When you last used the flash drive, how did you remove it? Did you remember to eject it first, or simp.y unplug it? If the latter, then that will usually lose the files or at least render them corrupt or inaccessible.

“Never” simply unplug usb storage devices; always eject them first, then unplug/remove.

You might get them back using recovery software?

Hopefully you have copies of the files elsewhere, as flash drives can and do fail at any time; although they are more reliable these days than in the past. Use flash drives as temporary storage, and/or to transport files - but first have files safe on more secure media ( D/DVD, hard drive).

"It won't even be recognized on any other device."

Sounds like the flash drive has died.
