Asus usb driver not detected by windows 10

Specs: Windows 10, 8 gb
It seems that installing the correct Asus Android driver ( so that Zenone 5 will be recognized ) is more of problem that it seems. This is what I have tried up to now - as far as the phone goes I have turned on debugging and allowed the usb connection (MTP) in storage. Nada!
I downloaded the drivers from Asus but after I installed them this is what I see in device manager.
Main : Android Driver - Sub: Asus Android ADB Interface - with a yellow exclamation mark. When
going into the properties it says "the specific request is not a valid operation for the target device" which possibly means that the Main android driver is not the right one. If that is the case then from where do I get the correct driver?

Read all that before so nothing really new there...the drivers from asus i downloaded ages ago and they do not work. All my usb ports come back with the same results....
In device manager there is no Asus_T00J only the regular Android Device driver...which is not the right one and which appears after installing the asus drivers.
