OS: windows ME
CPU/Ram: genuineintel\63MB
Model/Manufacturer: HP Pavillion
Comment:
This Pavillion HP computer only plays CD's. I have an older E-machine that plays and cuts CD's AND DVD's. If I take out this CD player and put the other one in will This HP computer automatically recognize it so it will play and cut DVD's and CD's or at least be able to play DVD's. Will the instructions for doing it appear in my start up menu 'Programs'? Or perhaps at the same place the present CD instructions are located(My Computer) Thank you

If the drive will fit, then it should be detected after connecting it. You may have to install the drivers, so make sure you have them.

By "Cut" do you mean burn? You'll need burning software in order to burn to CDs and/or DVDs. "Will the instructions for doing it appear in my start up menu 'Programs'?" No. The steps to use will depend on the program you download.

You'll also need to install a DVD software program so that you can view DVDs. There are lots of freeware ones, and some DVDs already come with software that you can use as well.

Life's more painless for the brainless.
