I heard someone on the radio talking about a utility called File Checker in Windows 98 , they stated the run command to bring it up and I was going to try it in Windows Me. Does anyone know the run command and if it available in WinMe ? From what I heard it tells you about missing or corrupted files in your system ? Iam mad at myself for not writing down the run command , I belive it was just 3 letters ?
You can still use sfc with Windows Me. First you have to extract all the files from the Win 98 se or other to install in the windows directory. Files are called sfc.exe & sfcdll.dll. Run these commands from the run menu using the win 98 disk. extract [driveletter]:win98\win98_46.cab sfc.exe %windir%\System extract [driveletter]:win98\win98_41.cab sfcdll.dll %windir%system When you run sfc it will ask for the default.sfc, extract it from the win 98 disk also. Make sure you manually update the first time and then you can run it on a regular basis. FromTerry's Post
