Okay... I've gone through half a dozen search engines, gone through all the pages that say to use msconfig to remove it, and I've found myself at dozens of dead links, trying to figure out how to remove the Synchronization Manager from rewriting itself to the startup group. I even tried deleting mobsync.exe from the registry. Can someone PLEASE tell me how to get rid of this #%$@ thing, once and for all? Typical of Bill's Bunch, I had to install Word to get a simple graphics filter installed on my machine and, as usual, am being forced to swallow a bunch of crap I DON'T want... I'd certainly appreciate some help here!

spybot search and destroy, ad-aware. both prog are free and will clean it out.

I spent hours trying to figure out how to remove the mobsync.exe file from startup. After messing with several settings, I finally found a combination that worked and took the liberty of documenting this fix for you. I hope it works as well for you, as it did me.

How to remove synchronization manager Mobsync.exe /logon from windows 2000 startup

mobsync - mobsync.exe - Process Information
Process File: mobsync or mobsync.exe
Process Name: Microsoft Synchronization Manager
Description: Part of Internet Explorer which runs in the background and handles the View Pages Offline" feature

Steps to remove this function from windows 2000 startup:

1.Select the advanced internet options in IE and uncheck "Enable offline items to be synchronized on a schedule."

2.From Internet Explorer
Click Favorites
Click add to favorites
Remove check from “Make available Offline”.

3.Go to Control panel
Click Folder Options icon
Select the offlline files tab
uncheck Enable offline files
click apply

4.Now execute the Regcleaner utility and remove the synchronization manager Mobsync.exe /logon line.
Finally reboot the system
