just as i suspected of course freeware is no good, it rarely ever is.

Burn4free is a confirmed trojan only 2 of my programs caught it ~ Beware if you use this program it can be used to retrieve your passwords. I still use it because it works great but you need to get zonealarm software and completely block out Burn4free from accessing the internet. Big hint was the toolbar it installs. Toolbar = bad for anything just about.

Alot of freeware you get from the internet can carry malware, but if you get the software from a reputable hosting site they should already have tested the program for any malware.

I go to www.snapfiles.com and search there for any freeware I might want.

The site is very very good. They give you the option to search for freeware or shareware (I only ever search the freeware titles). They test the software for any hidden nasties. They will give their own rating on the software and they will publish user reviews and ratings also. All this so you can thoroughly research the program(s) you want to download.

I've downloaded and trialled literally dozens of the freeware applications they host and have never found anything carrying any spyware or adware.

A very good freeware burning program I use that I found on SnapFiles is CDBurnerXP. Have a look at it and give it a go if you want... I'm sure you will be impressed.

"just as i suspected of course freeware is no good". Reads like a "fact" but I suspect it is an "opinion". I have many freeware programs which are fine, particularly open source software.

There are many anti-spyware programs you can purchase which put on more nasties than they take off.

In my opinion, all programs should be researched carefully before installing - free or otherwise.
