Hello,

I'm attempting to install OpenVMS 8.3 on a DS10. Montegar seems to have run out of 8.2 hobbyist kits so I recieved a burned copy of 8.3. When I attempt to boot I get the following:

>>>boot DQA0
block 0 of dqa0.0.0.13.0 is a valid boot block
reading 1226 blocks from dqa0.0.0.13.0
failed to send read to dqa0.0.0.13.0
failed to read dqa0.0.0.13.0
bootstrap failure

I think the hardware is ok because I installed debian from cdrom just fine. Do I have a coaster here or is there something else I can try?

If it aint broke ...
You aint tryin to run it fast enough

squalus,

Personally, I would always be suspicious of the disk as a starting point. However, I would also be suspicious of the settings on the CDROM drive.

On the debian CDROM, what is the block size of the disk?
