Comment: Hey Im looking in to purchasing a good solid gaming laptop for myself when i go off to college next autumn, and ive become stumped. One of the few options im considering is a Dell XPS M1730. The only thing is i cant decide is if an SLI of 2 geforce 8700m gt 512mb is worth the extra 300 dollars for it. I do enjoy playing games at high resolutions and im also going to a game design college (go fig) so i ask your help. Ive checked the comparison charts and im also considering an 8800m gtx 512mb in another model. I realize that it will be better graphics with the SLI than a single 8700m but im just looking at cost effectiveness and how much ill get out of it compared to the 8800 GTX. e6400 oced @ 3.0 4 gigs ram 8800 gts (320mb) Vista ultimate 32-bit all on an MSI P6N platinum

Reply: (edit)It all boils down to the pros & cons..... Once that five minutes of drooling over the uber powerful machine is over with, you'll surely & painstakingly begin to see the true albeit often omitted trade offs of owning a bulky, expensive, battery eating toaster that's typically advertised as a super gaming laptop. http://www.extremetech.com/article2...
