My dad wants to buy a 8600GT for his pc because me and him want to be able to play halo 2 but all the ones I see require additional power... can someone find me one that does not require a 6-pin pci-e power connector? (from newegg preferably)
All 8600's need an additional power source. What I suggest is you check that your computer has enough power, if not, buy a PSU(power supply) along with it. I'd suggest a 350Watt or so. High quality PSU's though.
Are you sure your dad is looking at an 8600GT and not an 8600GTS? The 8600GTS requires a power connector; the 8600GT does not.
If your PSU has at least 20A on its +12v rail (take a look at the sticker on your PSU), then you could use a 2 Molex to PCI-E Y adaptor to power the card.

eMachines are notorious for having crappy PSUs (usually Bestec). I suggest getting at least a 400W unit & spending no less than $50. Here's a good one:
The 8500GT is inferior to the 8600GT. *Most* of them use GDDR2 memory rather than GDDR3, plus they only have 16 stream processors as compared to 32 for the 8600GT.
