I just ungraded to winxp and finding it hard to get the system to understand my ABC modem. I have a driver(floppy) disk but it doesn't cover XP. I searched on the net but I remember the guy that gave it to me said that the company is not longer around that makes this modem and it is not for xp. I have been able to get on the net twice but using it as a "standard" modem but it takes some fiddling. For some reason the properties of Dialup has saved the wrong password for my connection as well and it takes a lot of stuffing around to change it manually as it just won't change permanently. Very odd. Other than that I just installed winxp plus SP1 and everything else is running smoothly.
As you were told, Auslinx are no longer & there's no Xp driver - you'd do best to cut your losses & pay up for a cheap XP compatible modem - save you a lot of hassle in the long run.
Tell me about it. I have to get the system to recognise the modem everytime I go to connect to the net and now it has gotten worse and is only connecting at 9.6 kbps. Ouch....ah well will get one tomorrow! Thanks johnr!
