On April 22, Broadcom (AVGO) and Google Cloud (GOOGL) announced an expanded collaboration, with AppNeta technology from Broadcom serving as the foundation for Google Cloud’s newly launched Cloud Network Insights platform.
Google Cloud developed Cloud Network Insights as a native service designed exclusively for its customer ecosystem. The platform leverages AppNeta’s monitoring capabilities to deliver enhanced visibility into application performance across distributed computing environments.
Enterprise IT departments face significant challenges as computing workloads become increasingly dispersed. Applications now run across multiple cloud providers, internal data centers, and various SaaS platforms. Conventional monitoring solutions often lack the capability to track performance beyond the boundaries of customer-controlled network infrastructure.
Cloud Network Insights addresses this visibility challenge through three primary capabilities. The platform provides network experience monitoring with complete path visibility from end to end. It also delivers application and agent experience monitoring that spans both internal infrastructure and cloud-based systems. Additionally, the service includes network diagnostics that accelerate the process of determining whether performance issues stem from network infrastructure or application-layer problems.
The Role of AppNeta Technology
AppNeta represents Broadcom’s solution for monitoring end-user experiences with cloud applications and SaaS platforms. The technology provides IT departments with comprehensive insights into both network infrastructure and application performance across complex, distributed environments.
Broadcom deploys AppNeta within its own organization to monitor traffic flows across internal and cloud-based application systems. This production deployment has informed the development and implementation of the technology within the Cloud Network Insights offering.
Rob Enns, who serves as VP and General Manager of Cloud Networking at Google Cloud, explained that incorporating AppNeta’s observability capabilities enables customers to “proactively optimize agent, application, and network experiences and rapidly pinpoint network bottlenecks.”
Serge Lucio, VP and General Manager of Broadcom’s Agile Operations Division, emphasized that this partnership enables Google Cloud customers to achieve more effective monitoring of distributed applications and network infrastructure.
The Rising Demand for Multi-Cloud Monitoring
Contemporary enterprise infrastructure has become increasingly complex. Organizations operate across public cloud platforms, private infrastructure, and an expanding array of SaaS applications. Achieving unified monitoring across these diverse environments represents an ongoing challenge for IT operations teams.
Cloud Network Insights provides a solution by consolidating network performance data for distributed cloud applications into a single comprehensive view. The platform delivers visibility across all infrastructure layers, extending beyond the systems under direct Google Cloud management.
Alan Davidson, serving as CIO at Broadcom, highlighted that the company depends on AppNeta to help its internal IT organization differentiate between network-related issues and application-layer problems — a distinction that becomes increasingly difficult as infrastructure complexity grows.
Broadcom’s AVGO stock gained 0.91% on the announcement date. Google’s GOOGL stock advanced 1.38%.
Organizations can now access Cloud Network Insights powered by AppNeta by Broadcom through the Google Cloud platform.
