I'll get right to it...

This is regarding a zx5000 HP Pavilion Laptop...

Had the laptop running and charging as I always do when I'm at home. Ran to a friends house to show off some wedding pics so I shutdown the laptop and then unplugged it. Went to his house with just the laptop and ran off the battery until it was down to about 15%... shutdown the Laptop and went home.

Once I got home, I plugged in the power supply to the laptop, but now it won't charge and the battery is so low I can't even power on with that...

I have noticed that the green LED on the PS will light and act fine when plugged into the wall... but the second I plug it into the laptop, the LED goes off and the PowerSupply will start to make a "chirping" sound.... on top of that.... the laptop is also making the same "chirping" sound.

I've tried removing the battery and unplugging the laptop... and then holding the power button down for 30sec to 2min... no good.

I've also toyed with the idea that the power plug on the laptop is loose... and have attempted to push and hold the cord different directions so see if a connection could be made... no good.

Lastly, I took the Laptop to best buy and they were kind enough to try another Power Supply with my laptop... same deal there... so I'm assuming is the laptop in some way and not the powersupply and cord.

Any ideas?? It's out of warranty, BTW.

On a side note... I'm wondering if there's a "reset" procedure like this... ((about 6 years ago my "Nintendo 64" stopped working after I tried to plug it into the wall... I call Nintendo and the nice lady there walked me through a strange reset... bassicaly, I had to unplug the N64 cord and power supply in a certain order (from wall and N64)... after waiting 5min or so.. I had to re-attach the power supply and power cord in another certain order... but it worked and the N64 still works to this day.))..

Is there by chance a reset setup like that on HP products??

Thanks for any help!
TK.

I have a ZV5000 Pavilion laptop too, and the exact same thing happened to me! I had to send it back to HP to have it repaired. Looks like you're out of luck :-/. Call HP and explain your problem. I know you're out of warranty, but I don't think it will be too expensive.

Good luck! Been there, done that.

Any idea what was wrong and what was repaired on your laptop?... I can handsolder and fix a lot of things... depending on what it is, I may be able to fix this myself.

Thanks!

From what I know, it was the system board--and you should replace your battery and power cord. That's what happened to my laptop. :-/
