Comment:

When I install Zone Alarm with XP Pro I cannot connect to the internet at all. I've checked the setting on Z.A. and it's not locked or anything. I also made sure XPs own firewall was not enabled. Any advice?

Thanks!

Did you download the latest ZA. There's an XP compatible version. Works fine on mine :-)

My ZA 2.6.231 works beautifully on my Win XP Pro Final and it is activated from startup.
Hmmm...perhaps you can try this.Try to Only Load ZA manually. After Windows loading successfully, then activate ZA.

Yes, it was the latest version. I can load it manually, but true vector does load, in addition to not being able to connect to the internet.

The problem seems to be the speed the system loads the ZA executable at.
It is actually loaded BEFORE the truevector service (yes, it is a service) is started.

A simple fix is to enable the user logon screen to give ZA the time to fully boot up.

A post-booting-up manual execution of ZA will solve the issue as well.

Anyway I've been using ZA since I installed the final XP Pro build (2600) with no problems.

Bye now,
EnTiTy

I had the same problems with the new Zonealarm Pro for windows XP..I kept getting an error with Truevector...I am running XP Professinal 2600 build final and the easy fix was to load it manually and it works fine..Hopefully they will work the bugs out of that soon...good luck

Sounds like there are some issues. I will use the XP firewall for now, and wait for a new release from Zone Alarm. Thanks for your help!

I confront the same problem using ZA pro (last version) on XP 2600 pro corp final.
couldn't load the truevector so appears as X and lock every connection.

same problem while active manually, although the istalation was perfect and it seems to work fine until the first boot.

I spent hours trying to look for any piece of information over ZA web site and the internet - but nothing yet.

I'll keep following and let you know if I find something.

This is what happened.
A few months ago i installed ZoneAlarm (firewall) on my computer. Everything was ok till i forgot the password i'd set for it. The thing was on Lock mode, meaning nothings allowed to access the net and vice-versa. I try to un-install but the password was needed for any changes, so i dicided to wipe it completely clean from my system by deleting the main folder and whatever else that even smells like ZoneAlarm. It worked fine, till i tryed to install it again.

During the installation ZA ask for a new password so i thought everthing was ok now since its asking for a new PW. i submitted a new pasword, finish the installation only to realize the new password doesn't work.

Caught in a Deja-vu i dicided to try what i've done before. I thought, if it worked fine then, hey!, it'll work now. but this time i went a little futher. I went into the Registry and delete whatever that has zonealarm on it. yep, the place where even brave men fear to go. At the time i was so pissed, i would of send a brick in the moniter if i hadn't spend a few hundred for it. fear was the last thing on my mind.

I was thinking about re-binding my network adapters and protocol but that wouldn't work since the puter is able to go online, its the applications that are being block.
I have no idea what to do.

How can i bypass the blocking mechinism or whatever its called?

Its like one annoyance after another, first with the missing files now this.

OK,ok i know, everyone hates long post. i wanted you to have an understanding of the problem.
Thanx
