I have a problem with Zonelabs. I uninstall Zone Alarm through Add and delete programs without shutting it down first. So now its off my computer, but I can't access my internet in normal mode only in safe mode. When I go to reinstall Zone Alarm I get the message about I need to shut down True Vector, but if I can't reinstall Zone Alarm how can I shut down True Vector. Can someone please help with this.

Start settings--> control --> pannel --> administrative tools and then click on services. Look for the True Vector service here and stop it and any ones pertaining to Zone Alarm. Once completed, try to reinstall.

WOW, I just fix my own program. This is what I did. The True Vector was running on my computer, that cause no webpages to display. So I went to start>run>msconfig>service. and clear the True Vector check box. So now its not running on my computer and I am typing this from normal mode, not safe mode. I have to say but I never use a Zone Alarm product again. I believe Norton is the best. Thanks for the help guys. Any other tips and advice is great.

You need to go to zone alarms web site and searh for uninstall zone alarm, because it leaves a lot of junk on your computer and may interfer with other protection running correctely, and if you want a good firewall use free Sygate and free AVG for virus protection, they seem to work much better, norton really bogs down your computer.

First of all, get a hardware firewall. All the software firewalls are buggy and memory hogs.

It looks as if there are some people of Norton trying to sell their software??? ;-) Maybe it's better not to install anything instead of ZA, why should you? Are you not safe enough in WIN XP SP2? What should there be so interesting for hackers on your PC? I don't think a serious thief is looking for info on residential users, is it?
Greetz to all of you and thanks for the ZA-removal info, I'm trying to get rid of it on the PC of my father in law...
