zipping files to smaller batches

CPU/Ram: 1.6 - 384DDR

I want to put my DVD backups on CD-R.

My cds are 700Mb, but the backups are from 710MB to 730 MB.

Will putting the movie in a zip or rar file with best compression mode on make it fit?
