Zone Labs - the maker of ZA used to be a good company .. until Check Point Software Technologies bought them out in 2003. Any time someone else assume control of the good software the quality deteriorated. Classic examples are PowerQuest Partition Magic and DriveImage before they were acquired by Symantec.

Yes on Comodo, but not for inexperienced users. It is in ways a pain in that it allows nothing to pass without your permission.

I never like ZA in the 1st place. Have you tried Sunbelt Kerio Personal Firewall? For the 1st 30 days, it runs as the full version, after 30 days it downgrades to the free version. I've been running for about a year.

Kerio Personal Firewall is very good.

I also misse Partition Magic and Drive Image, I got version 6 of both. But that is the way of the software world, some small company makes somthing good and instead of competing you just buy them out, Blizzard Entertainment for example got bought out by EA.

Comodo is too naggging; ZoneAlarm free is a worthless piece of s--- after being bought out by checkpoint (wierd thing is it opens up some remote links to xeex that company has never disclosed what is it does); I think Sunbelt/Kerio free has same feature as ZoneAlarm and nicely menued items and uses less resources. However, none works as good as Norton on Vista.

I want to try out Jetico Personal Firewall2, but unsure if it is any better than Windows' own firewall.
