Hi there. When i copy and paste url into youtube downloader 2.5.0.0, i paste the url and click start but get a message saying-
HTTP/1.1 400 Bad Request.
Any help so i can just have a smooth download?

Perhaps YouTube are trying yet another method to prevent theft of content.
As a regular content contributor at YouTube, I welcome any anti-theft initiatives they find available to them.
Why does it seem like hypocrisy for CN to allow advice on YouTube content theft, while banning questions related to software piracy? Isn't stealing, still stealing, regardless of what is stolen?
Please let us know if you found someone's advice to be helpful.

Sci-Guy,
Although I feel for your perspective I must say that in order to view your's or anyone else's video on YouTube one must download it first. There is no way around it. It is the intent of the person uploading the video. It is so that others can 'download' it to view it.
Is it really stealing to download it for offline viewing? No more so than using a VCR to record a television program to watch it at the non-scheduled time.
It does not mean I am going to use that video or television program for any other use other than the original intent of the uploader of the video or of the broadcaster of the television program.
Quite unlike cracking an application where the sole purpose is to use that program without paying for the right to install it whereas that is the intent of the software maker; making money from people installing the application on their computers.
Neither YouTube videos nor broadcasted television programs have an associated cost to using them as they were intended.
The downloader is just a matter of a convenient way of acquiring the downloaded video for watching offline. I do believe it is the intent of the uploader to make their video available so that people can download it so that people can view it.
My experience was that I came accross a video that was 30 minutes long. I don't believe I would have been able to locate that video again as I had stumbled upon it.
I used YouTube downloader to acquire a copy for viewing offline. I did not have the time to watch it all at the time of it's discovery and I did not know if the video would still be available if I went looking for it another time. (I don't watch many videos on my PC via the internet)It is the only time I personally have used the downloader. The downloader was free and required no license to install it.
Best regards,
Bryan

Before you all start debating, I'd just like to say I get this too in an "easy video downloader" utility. I am also a regular youtube contributor but I have no problem downloading videos for offline use as Bryan suggested. I have no intention of distributing them. I even downloaded one of my own videos that I had misplaced the backup copy of on my computer. I like to have backup copies for if youtube ever goes downhill, etc.
As for the OP's question, use the Firefox extensions (there are lots of them).
If you don't use Firefox normally, do what I do and grab the portable version. The extension I use is called "fast video download".
I POAST THRAD!!!!!!!!111!1!1!!

so if you contribute a video that u made yourself and post it on youtube, what if youtube decided that would use that video to make money with it, what then ?
I think u would not like it, would u ?
You already confirmed they can and u gave them
permission. Also those that dont know youtube
is now owned by google.
