Hi, on my laptop in the bottom right corner there is a red circle with a white cross in it and it keeps flashing up with your computer is infected, and it says windows has detected a spyware infection and it says click here to protect but when i click nothing happens! and i have done many scans which always says my laptop has nothing wrong with it! How can i stop this? and is this really bad?
thanks for your help

If I am not mistaken, what you have got is a piece of spyware that puts that message up, and when clicked is supposed to send you to a site where you can buy a fix for the problem - basically a scam, though it looks as if the other end is not operating.

Do not click on the link.

I can't remember what you need to get rid of this, but try downloading and running Ad-Aware, Spybot and Spyware Blaster. All free (just google) and all a good idea to have in any case.

If this doesn't solve it, post again the Security forum, and let us know what Anti Virus and other protective software you have; I'm sure somebody will recognise it.
