Xvid.avi to Mpeg conversion?

is it possible to convert an Xvid.avi to an Mpeg file and if so how does one go about it?, the reason for doing this is my dvd player will play mpeg files but not Xvid. Thanks for any and all help given. cheers
Yes, it is possible. DVD players can only read mpg videos that meet the VCD standard: 352x240 image size, 29,97 frames per second (if NTSC) and 224 kbps-44100 Hz for the audio track.
Nero Burning Rom has the option of converting your videos to that standard before burning them as a VCD. It is OK, but I like TMPGEnc more. After the conversion,you can burn your video as a VCD with Nero. I don't remember if Nero has the option of creating chapters and interactivity in your VCDs. If you want a powerful VCD burning program with all of those options, you should give VCDEasy a try.
