XP/temp internet files - hidden? why?

I've just discovered an oddity.I am the administrator of my local machine. XP refuses to display the contents of the user/local settings/temporary internet files folder. It appears to be empty (yes I've tried changing all the view and file attribute options) but a right click shows it contains 10MB of files in 4 folders. I discovered this when saving an opened attachment - the save dialogue revealed a sub-folder (OLK267) with dozens of files in it (which I need to delete and cannot). Any ideas? Kim

Hi Kim! Yes, you can access all Temporary Internet Files. The procedure is this: Start All Programs Accessories System Tools Disk Cleanup Hilight Temporary Internet Files Click View Files Here you will find several Folders and one file called "index.dat" You can open the folders, look at the files, open Pictures and htm files. You can save them to any folder in your system, you can figure our what someone has visited on your machine, yo can delete all the folders. But the index.dat file cannot be deleted here. Have fun Kim. Peter

If you just want to see what files are in the History or Temporary Internet Files, all you have to do is go to My Computer, click on C: Drive (or whichever is your hard drive), then click on Documents and Settings. From there click the name of the account you wish to check. You'll see a list of folders (My Documents, Desktop, etc.), in the address bar at the top of the screen type in (after all the other junk and a slash "\") LOCAL SETTINGS, that will get you to the History and Temporary Internet Files.

Peter, Thanks a lot, your route certainly works. It still seems odd that you cannot see these files when you use the straightforward 'explorer' approach suggested by Seth but there you go, that's life. Kim
