Hi,
Is it true that XP has its own burning software? If it does, where can I find it?
PS: If you know any freeware burners, any suggestions would be very much appreciated.
Thanx!

Roxio (a popular software for burning)supplies a built in burning to XP. My wife likes it and she finds it easy to use. It is sort of a cut and past to your CD-R/RW drive in explorer or my computer. Read the built in help and support and view the ms web page for new features in XP.

Cristallerine,
XP's burning software is "built in". Just drag files onto your cdrw drive in explorer and the process will begin.
I should tell you.... I had a lot of wasted disks from XP's burning program. It's not very reliable...at least not for me anyway.
I now use Nero. It's not free, but it's well worth the $. I've tried some of the freebies out there, but I wouldn't recommend any of them.

Cristallerine Contrary to what SullyD said above, I have never had a bad burn from the built in burning software. Different systems obviously.
Finding this is very easy. Open the folder which contains the files you want to burn. Highlight one file (or more) then under File and Folder Tasks on the left click copy the selected items. This brings up another window where you will choose your CD burner. You will see a balloon appear at the bottom right of your screen indicating you have files waiting to be burned to CD. Click the balloon then click on burn these files to CD (on the left task pane) then follow the Wizard. When the burn is finished the tray will eject.
As stated above this is a cheap and dirty way to burn CD's. If you want to do anything more than drag and drop files then you must invest in third party software such as Roxio, Nero or some of the other ones out there.
Good luck.

teri
c'mon......you've never had a bad burn? You've never gotten the message, "cannot complete the cd writing process...the disk may no longer be usable." ?
That's like saying you've never caught a cold......doesn't happen. Perhaps you've had better results than most, but perfect?......I doubt it.

Burn4Free is a free CD burning program. It supports over 1000 different models of CD/DVD burners. It is very adequate for use, and is completly free also.
The only disadvantages to this software is that the UI is very rough, it is not very intuitive, and it comes with NavHelper, which is a plugin that will redirect searches typed into the address bar to a sposors site. This is easily removed with AdAware 6.0.181 though.
Information regarding Burn4Free can be found here.
