I have a weird situation here.

I know that XP home is unable to join NT domain, & it's a bit tricky for XPhome to coomunicate with Exchange & NT shared folder without joining NT domain.

So I create NT accounts for XP home users, install Outlook2000 in XPhome & set them up to connect Exchange server. I also mapped a network drive on XP home (manually) to access shared folder on NT server using the same login as they accesing email from exchange. So users will be prompted everytime they need to access email or go to the Network drive. And these have been working fine for 10 XPhome users for the last 2 months.

But 3 days ago, 1 XPhome PC crashed (got infected with WYX boot virus from a user's diskette). I successfully repair/reinstalled the PC & it goes back to ALMOST normal. It can login to network drive as before using the existing NT account, but somehow it won't get access to Exchange server now. the outlook keep asking for for the login. I used the same user, pswd, domain as before but never succeed. I even tried using Administrator acount but still no avail. It keeps showing message "login users and domain are not credential". The strange thing is XP home still can communicate/recognize NT domain server, Exchange server, and other PCs on the network. Only the outlook/exchange does not work at all.

Other XP PCs on the network are working fine without any problem. I checked the PC, NIC, cable/switch, reinstall outlook 2000, viruscheck, etc.......but still cannot fix the problem. Please Help!!!

Thanks in advance

try to configure your network wizard again:

control pannel ==> system ==> computer name ==> network ID

Well, the network configuration seems allright. I can ping to other PCs successfully, even to Exchange server. On my network neighborhood, all networked PCs including Exchange Server are shown on the list as it supposed to. Browsing the net is as fast as normal.

The only problem is accessing email to MS Exchange. Everytime outlook is opened & username/pswd/domain are entered, an error message "login users and domain are not credential" keeps popping up. I tried to use the same user account on other PC, it logged on to Exchange server in a jiffy.

This is a weird weird problem. I suspect the registry for MS Outlook might be the cause, but I'm not sure which one. Maybe I should reformat the whole thing from zero. Aaaaggghhhh....it's gonna be a long week. :(
