Ok i have an old atx/at hybrid mainboard (a15vg+ 100) which was running fine on an at power supply, I then decided to put an atx power supply in using the reset switch as a power button - Now the only reason for the atx PSU was to have the computer turn itself off as I have a program which counts down then shuts the machine down - The problem is, im still getting the ITS NOW SAFE TO TURN OFF YOUR COMPUTER screen - powr management is on in the bios, and I couldnt find any jumpers on the board to tell it you have an ATX supply (my VA503+ did).

Thanks ppl.

Check your Device Manager and see if Computer is STANDARD or ACPI. If it's standard, perfor the following:

You can change to ACPI but you need to run a Repair. Make sure ACPI is enabled in BIOS.

1. Boot off XP CD
2. As soon as screen turns blue, tap F5 until you are presented with Menu. Scroll up to Advanced Configuration Power Interface (ACPI) and press enter.
3. When prompted to select installation method, choose Repair.

You will not lose anything performing a repair. This trick also works for Windows 2000.
