xp won`t start

xp won`t start. Can`t boot from cd and won`t boot in safe mode. Just restarts over and over each time it gets to loading my conf. Any help would be great. Chris_44

The exact thing happened to me a couple of weeks ago. As I understad it the directory that keeps track of windows files became corrupted when my HD had problems. My only solution was to install a new drive and reinstall XP. Was able to save data files using Linux (see a more recent post above on hard drive crash).

Is the bios set to boot from a cd before the ide 0? You have 5 seconds to press enter to boot once it asks if you want to.
