xp wont shut down

my windows xp wont shut down. when i press start and then turn of coputer then shut down it wont shut down, it just looks at me as if im an idiot. i know what the problem is if i hit ctrl+alt+delete then go processes there is something running that is called SysMap.exe. once i end process this program i then can shut down my computer normally. the real problem is that everytime i turn my computer back on this sysmap.exe is still running and i have to end the process for me to shut down my computer. what i want to know is how to get rid of it once and for all. thnx a lot
