We have a new HP computer at work that came preloaded with XP. When it boots up, it launches scandisk. After scandisk runs it's course, it reports no errors but, freezes and never reboots. If you power the PC down and boot it back up, it goes back into scandisk and the same thing happens.

"Press any key" to abort scandisk does not work. I have tried the different boot options via pressing F8 on startup and it still goes into scandisk. I have tried booting to "last known good config." and it still goes into scandisk. Thanks for any help.

HP's do not come with a recovery disk

just do a repair on XP
( i think its f10) check the manual you got under recovery section
