xp wont boot

Hi,
posting for a friend so bear with me please, Xp was working fine, last task was printing invitations,normal shutdown, following morning it wont boot up, initial boot screen with beep, secondary screen and beep, offered safe mode etc. screen but wont go into safe mode, or any other option offered, blue screen Stop 0x0000007f possible
bad memory or video adapters, restore feature wont work, tried starting with cd to restore, after 40 minutes still not doing anything, wont work...setup failed to remove product cat spi.cat. error code fffffc06 cannot find message text for syssetup.dll

Can anyone help?

Review the following:
Start Your Computer by Using the Last Known Good Configuration

If that is of no help, you can start XP using the Recovery Console. You will need the XP CD and may have to select the cd-rom as the first device in the boot order, which is found in the system BIOS.

Sorry it took so long to post back, previous 2 posts to this thread have been lost in cyber space.

Thanks for the response LL, however neither option works, when she starts with cd she gets the above errors

Sounds like your diagnoses is correct; ram or graphics card. Try a different stick of ram, if no luck, swap out a vid card.
