Comment: I recently installed vista but I did a dual boot with XP. I deleted vista due to dislike from its partition. Now the bootloader for vista. Was still there so in recovery console I did a fixboot and fixmbr. Now when I restart my computer, XP won't boot. It just stays at the screen where it lets you boot from a cd. Help me please!!!

Reply: (edit)If you have the Vista dvd I think it will fix your issue even though you don't have a vista install. Try booting to it and use the repair features. "Best Practices", Event viewer, host file, perfmon, are in my top 10

Reply: (edit)Vista again?! Are you kidding me? Is there a tool I can use on the setup DVD to fix this? I must install again? Also do you know the problem?

Reply: (edit)The Vista DVD is a windows PE 2. boot disk. Many people used to build barts or UBCD4Win disks to be able to repair windows. MS finally gave it to use. It is a very powerful tool if you know how to use it. Now that you saved your data you can consider an XP repair using the xp disk. "Best Practices", Event viewer, host file, perfmon, are in my top 10
