Hello guys.
"Tried to start comp. Comp took a long time to load and i clicked on my account and it restarted. BIOS, and everything loads up normally. I tried to select "safe mode", but it just creates a partition halfway and freezes. Then I chose "last known good configuration" and it also freezes".
My problem have been posted by someone else and I have read the solutions.
That said I am a novice at attempting to fix this type of problem and need someone to be patient enough to tell me step by step, key by key how to solve this.

Looks fairly serious. stick the XP cd in and boot from it. then try to repair the installation. if that doesn't work then try to reinstall over the top. if THAT doesn't work, you may have to look at formatting your hard disk. If you have a spare computer, you could rig up the hard disk as a slave and get any data off it you need before you do.

I was able to change the setting to boot right from the CD instead of the hard drive/floppy drive...
Problem solved.
Thanks for your help.

Booting from the CD to access data that's stored on the hard drive might offer a temporary solution, but I doubt that you'll be satisfied with that option as a permanent fix.
If you change your mind about "Problem solved," don't be afraid to come back for more advice. Even if you are prepared to reinstall the OS, all your problems may not, in fact, be solved at this juncture.
