Tried to start comp.
Comp took a long time to load and i clicked on my account and it restarted. BIOS, and everything loads up normally.
I tried to select "safe mode", but it just creates a partition halfway and freezes.

Then I chose "last known good configuration" and it also freezes.
With normal mode, it tells me that an NTFS file is deleted or corrupt. Also it said to restart the comp with the WinXP disk and repair the corrupt file.

Tried... Error 4, Error 7, setupdd.exe could not be launched yadayada...

Can somebody please help me?

How to do a system repair.--Boot from the xp cd and go past the recovery console to the install menu. Select repair the existing installation. You won't lose any data except the xp updates. Unless you have a slipstream sp1 cd you will have to d/l sp1 and all subsequent updates. You MUST have at least SP1 installed and the updates for security reasons. Be sure the firewall and A/V is active before going online as you will be susceptible to sasser and msblaster. If you don't want SP2 go to autopatcher.com and d/l SP1 and subsequent updates.

If you don't have the courtesy to reply if the fix worked we may not have the courtesy of helping you next time.

From the previous post on the other post you may have a memory problem.XP is very sensitive to memory problems. As I said before try removing one module at a time on the setup if you have 2 modules.

Alright ill try moving some hardware around but I think it's software problem

I got the setup menu to come up and tried to repair the file;
The generic blue screen popped up and said some stuff, and at the bottom it read
"ntfs.sys - address F8152DBAbase at F814E000, DateStamp, 3d6de5c1"

Ahhh! this is killing me I might as well just take it to a repair shop if it still wont work in a week lol.

YES!
I switched some memory around and re-tried safe mode and now windows is slowly booting up... very very slowly.

Now all I have to figure out is how to repair the corrupt file.

thanks a bunch

Hello guys.

I have the same problem. That said I am a novice at attempting to fix this type of problem and need someone to be patient and tell me step by step, key by key how to solve this.

Can anyone help me?

Thank you
