xp won't boot up

I've installed xp on my system without any issues. It worked well up until yesterday. Now the system boots up to a blank screen. The system is an AMD K7 1GHz on an Asus A7V motherboard and ATI all-in-wonder rage 128 video card. A friend is also having the same issue on his AMD k6-2 450GHz system with 8mb intel 740i video card. Please help!

Have you tried contacting the place where you bought the computer? Since you both have an AMD system, have you tried contacting AMD or visiting AMD's website?
I have the same problem. I was able to boot into safe mode. the event viewer said some crap about COM+ and some other crap cause error. It happened before. I reformat and reinstall XP. I have tried to uninstall everything down to bare OS. still no boot. PIII 1GHZ P3BF 256 MB 80GB AIW radeon 32MB DDR

Are you using the ATA 100 controller if so i had this sort of problem because i installed xp on the normal ATA 66 then once it was installed i changed the hard drives over to ATA 100 and it wouldnt boot. Make sure you havnt got the cylinder limiter jumper selected on your hard drives and install xp in ATA controller.
