Specs: Windows XP
When I power on the computer, it goes to the safe mode option screen. I choose "safe mode with networking" , the screen goes black, and it starts rolling fast with windows text in white, then it stops with the following text at the bottom : "Press ESC to cancel loading SPTD.sys " I hit esc and it boots normally to the user accounts screen. I pick an account and loads normal, although it is is safe mode. Internet works on it. I went to msconfig and unchecked all startup items, and unchecked all non microsoft items in the process screen as well. But I still get the same results after rebooting. This computer is running AVG anti virus software. Any ideas ?

Doing a quick GOOGLE search (try it some day) I found that this file is normally used by Daemon tools. So uninstall Daemon tools and see if that helps. If you don't have it, try uninstalling any CD burning software you may have.
