Comment:
One can buy XP-Pro with sp-2 and also XP-Pro with sp3; one can also download sp3... and install it later (with an eye to the M$ KB before hand...).
Other than the "convenience" of having sp3 already "enabled" at time of setup/installing XP afresh... which might one be better going for?
XP with sp2 and then download/install sp-3 after installing the sp2 version; or go straight to XP with sp3?
I'm being a little cautious about possible issues that may still be prevalent with sp3 when part of a current OEM set; as opposed the earlier sp2 versions?
The price difference between to the OEM versions is peanuts...; and I have the current sp3 downloaded already and on CD/DVD. The version I have is dated on M$ site as 7/3/2008... which one hopes is the latest (definitive/fixed - not still dubious) version?

I would elect to buy the WinXP SP2 and if desired slipstream SP3. That way you don't have to use SP3. You can't remove any service packs that come on the CD. You would have both types then.

I second OtheHill for the mere reason that M$ themself never have re-engineered XP with SP3 fully integrated then RTM it over to their OEM partners.
