I have a compaq deskpro that wanted to replace the origina HD(2G) with one with greater capacity(80G). I installed the drive booted the system and ran the drive utility to format, transfer system & copy content from original HD partition to the new HD. after this was completed I swapped drives and rebooted. I got a 1782 Disk failure error. After repeated attemps, I swapped everything back to original configuration, but it will only bootup in safe mode. In normal mode it starts up brings up the Xp logo with the scrolling bar, and that is where it remains. I tried to boot where last sucessful and I get the same response. Any ideas ??

Try reinstalling XP on the new HDD. Sounds like when you did an image, it didn't fully work.
