XP welcome screen

Single user XP. I have it set to start with welcome screen. Fast Switching set off.
Have .net 1.1 installed on machine.
MS KB suggests this is an issue with .net 1.0 but installing 1.1 should fix it. It hasn't. Any Suggestions?

Are you suggesting that your problem is with the Welcome screen and the extra user account that was created when .Net was installed?? If so click Start Run and type control userpasswords2. Hit enter and configure to your hearts content.

everything is ok via controlpassword so that's not the solution. any other ideas?. I notice that .net sets up an aspnet user, but nothing in their suggests a problem
