I had a dual boot of Vista Home Premium and XP Professional. I did not like Vista so i deleted the partition it was on and recreated it. Vista has left the building but on bootup XP looks for Vista. In other words its asking what OS i want to boot to. I checked the startup and recovery even the edit i copied everything from this computer witch has XP Professional to it and still it ask what OS i want. What do i do now?

Likely as not you have an entry for Vista in the boot.ini; and possibly it's still set as default OS to boot?
Presuming so... boot to XP; set it as default to boot; edit boot.ini to remove Vista reference(s); save changes and exit...
Next time you reboot XP will boot thru...

Yes thats what i edited. I copied it from the desktop running XP Professional. To the laptop boot.ini. I guess it was the boot.ini system properties Advanced then where it shows the time to wait and i hit the edit. and select all delete then paste. Oh and before someone suggest it. Ive got system restore turned off.
Thanks

Download VistaBootPro or EasyBCD .... it will take care of the Vista BCD residual.
