Hi,

Iīve got one XP-PC in a Win2000-Network.
This one machine is very, very slow. I tryed everything to change this: I checked the settings, the cables, the switch, everything. I didnīt find anything that could be wrong.
Can anyone help me? Does anyone know how I can make XP faster?

Sheila

What are the specifications of the XP Computer? RAM? Processor Speed? Hard Drive?

What do you mean, "slow"? That's very ambiguous. Is the network transfer rate consistently below expected? Does the computer lag when playing games? What?

If it's the network speed, check what speed of connection your XP machine is getting. I would expect you're used to 100mbps, and it's not achieving this full potential. Usually you can only expect to get about 30-50% utilization, because of the increased possibility of errors, and because of hard drive speed limitations.

NEED MORE DETAILS!

Mittens.

If its the network tranfer rate and if it goes slow also if all of the settings are correct then it should be find. Unless your running a proxy server.
