Apparantly, Microsoft do not ship the KODAK Imaging software in XP like they used to in WIN9x. It uses a new program called FAX and IMAGING VIEWER. Does anyone know the filename of this program. Cheers
KODAK Imaging software was not included with XP. However you can correct the omission by following the instructions given at the following site. It worked perfectly.

Using Imaging for Windows
after Upgrading to Windows XP
Disclaimer: The information presented here is based solely on my own personal experience. I am not a technical expert associated with Microsoft, Kodak or Wang in any way other than being a user of their products. I have tried to be as complete and accurate as possible, but I take no responsibility for use of this information by others. Can you say Copywright? If you have upgraded to Windows XP from Windows 95 OSR2, 98, ME or 2000*,
(and possibly NT4) you can still use the Wang or Kodak Imaging for Windows
(IfW) applications and ActiveX controls if you can access the files listed below.
If you installed XP to another folder, thus preserving your previous Windows version, or if you can re-install your previous version of Windows on another partition or computer, you can copy the files to your current \windows\system32 directory as described below. If you no longer have your old Windows version installed, you can extract the files from the CAB files
on your original Windows 9x CD or expand the files from the Windows 2000 CD.
If you have not yet upgraded to Windows XP, I suggest archiving copies of
these files in a separate location before performing the upgrade.Although you ultimately will need to copy all the IfW DLLs and OCXs to your Windows XP \system32 directory, I highly recommend
initially copying/extracting the entire file set to an archival directory as illustrated below so you can back-track
more easily if problems arise.Note! Make sure all the files you use are from the same original version
of Windows -- 95OSR2 | 98 | 98SE | ME | 2000.
Mixing file versions may cause problems.Once you have installed the files, you must register the ActiveX
controls as described below before you can use the IfW applications.

Note: The AW... DLL's are used for fax support and are required by
the Wang version, otherwise the OCX's will fail to register (see below.)
This is not true for the Kodak version. XFILEXR.DLL is also related
to fax support (see imagevue.inf) but may not be required by either
version in order to operate otherwise.HOWEVER, you will not be able to open AWD ("At-Work Document" --
Microsoft fax) files in Windows XP with either Wang or Kodak IfW.
I'm not sure what specifically prevents it, but Microsoft removed
AWD support from NT 4, and Windows XP will not let IfW open this
format even though all the above files are present. If you need
to access existing AWD files, use the Windows XP installation-CD utility
\i386\win9xmig\fax\awdvstub.exeto convert the AWD files to TIFF format (thanks to Slipstick Systems for this tip,)
or consider purchasing a program like PhotoPhilia or

You may also want to copy IMAGEVUE.INF from \Windows\INF.
You can use the information it contains to verify which files
are needed or to manually set up registry keys for IfW.These are all the files I know about; there may be others.
If you find any other files whose property sheets label them
as Wang or Eastman Software,
you might want to copy them too, just in case.
----------------------Extracting from Windows CAB Files
You can extract the necessary Imaging for Windows (IfW) files from the
original Windows 9x installation CD "cab" files even after you have installed Windows XP.
If you are not familiar with this process, you should read the Microsoft
knowledge-base article Q129605
(they change these links a lot so you may need to search microsoft.com
for the article number or if you need it in another language.)You need to find out which CAB files contain the necessary files,
then extract them to your hard drive (I recommend using a destination other
than your current Windows folders.) You use the extract.exe utility on the original
Windows 9x CD (note: version-dependent) for both of these tasks, but since it is a
command-line only executable, it's a bit of a pain to do. You may want to create batch
files for these steps. To locate a file, open a DOS-command window (so you can scroll back through the
output -- don't use Start|Run !) and call extract.exe with the /a and /d switches,
for example:g:\win98\extract /a /d g:\win98\base4.cab img*.*
Do this for the other files listed above. Or you can do it the easy way and use
PkZip or WinZip to locate and extract the files. You will find a few other
similarly-named files (imgutil.dll, imagehlp.dll, imgstart.exe) but these are
version-dependent operating-system files that, as far as I know, are not part of
Imaging for Windows.I have listed below where I found the files on my Windows 95, 98 and a Dell ME CDs.
Your source may be different.Users of the early version of Windows 98 may wish to use these handy
batch files created and shared by Boris. Download extractifw.txt (1,297 bytes)
and registerifw.txt (609 bytes), edit them with the correct drive letters and paths
for your machine and rename them with .bat extension to execute.\WIN98\PRECOPY2.CAB; [ME]\WIN9X\PRECOPY1.CAB

Once you have located all the files, use extract.exe
to copy them to your hard drive, for example:g:\win98\extract g:\win98\win98_62.cab img*.ocx /L c:\ifw
Make sure you place the /L switch immediately before the destination path(!)
I definitely would create a little batch or script file to do the extractions.
----------------------Expanding Windows 2000 CD Files
If you are installing a copy of IfW from the Windows 2000 CD, you will need to use expand.exe:g:\i386\expand g:\i386\imgadmin.oc_ c:\ifw\imgadmin.ocx
The simplest method is to create a batch file to copy all the files:rem (substitute your CDROM drive letter)
g:
cd i386
rem (substitute your destination path)
expand imgadmin.oc_ c:\ifw\imgadmin.ocx
expand imgcmn.dl_ c:\ifw\imgcmn.dll
rem ... (continue with the remaining files)You can copy the list of files above from your browser and paste into your
favorite text editor to make the batch file. (The last letter of each file
name is replaced with '_' in the compressed version on the CD.)
----------------------Registering OCX Files
After you install Windows XP (and copy all the IfW DLLs and OCXs to \system32),
you will need to register the ActiveX controls (OCX files). The easiest method
is to use the Start | Run facility and execute the statement:regsvr32 imgadmin.ocx
Do this for each of the four OCX files listed above. This should allow you
to run wangimg.exe or kodakimg.exe and kodakprv.exe, as well as using the
controls in the demonstrations in my ImageEditor workspace or in your own applications.Several users have reported failures when trying to register the OCXs,
receiving the error message, 'LoadLibrary("imgxxxx.ocx") failed -
The specified module could not be found.' This is a generic error
that occurs if a supporting DLL, linked internally by the OCX or DLL
being registered, cannot be found. Double-check that all the IfW and
system DLLs mentioned above are present in the system32 folder.
If registration still fails, there may be another required DLL that I'm not aware of.A user recently pointed out that wangimg.exe and the Windows 98 version
of kodakimg.exe will produce an error message when run in a multi-user
environment by users without adminstrator privileges. When the application
starts, an error dialog states, "Failed to update the registry.
Please try using REGEDIT." However, you can click OK to close the dialog
and the application proceeds to operate normally. This does not occur with the Windows 2000 version. So far I haven't found a solution for this problem.
If anyone knows how to prevent this, please let me know.
