XP user32.dll & kernel32.dll error

When trying to install new software (studio 7 & usb adsl modem software getting error message. The procedure entry point could not be located in the dynamic link library KERNEL32.DLL & USER32.DLL Why is this. This my sytem is duggered. Have re-installed a coupe of times. this is the same for microsoft office etc. any suggestions?

Check through your Event Viewer for logged errors and see what's been turned up so far....

I have the same problem. I'm actually writing a program and this error is given..

Unable to find an entry point named GetPrivateProfileString in DLL Kernel32.

any idea why this might be so when i'm exactly following the code from Microsoft and other developers??
