Hi
I gues it is too late to ask the question because the problem is at least one month old. I am using XP-Home. We have got two user profiles. Me and My Sister(No Passwords, we just have to click on our names). About a month ago, I started the PC and tried to log in to my account. It took a long time to log in and at the end gave me a message that the user profile was not found and that is why a guest profile had been issued to me. I logged in at my Sister's profile and checked out for my stuff. I found even my Desktop folders and files, nothing lost till now. The strange thing is that when everything is there, why can't it log in using my profile. Since a few days, I noticed an extra folder in Documents and Settings folder named MyName.DESKTOP containing cookies and My Documents etc folders which are all empty. I can still click on my profile name to log in but I use the other account and access my folders from there. I didn't delete the profile because I am afraid of deleting my folders related to the profile.
Any help or suggestions would be appreciatedHave a nice day!

Check for viruses and spyware with these tools:
NOTE: You MUST disable any other antivirus programs before installing ex. Norton, Mcaffe... Also, update AVG and Ad-Aware SE and then scan with both of them. These are both free programs so if you wish to keep these you can. Also, while scanning unplug the cable for the internet. You must have images turned on in computing.net to see the links.
AVG Anti-Virus
Ad-Aware SE

Backup/copy your documents, favourites, settings passwords etc. Go to your sisters log on. create a new account for you. Then copy everything over, when you are happy, you have everything, delete your old logon.
Before posting try google. Backup. Use anti virus software.

If you're able to successfully login with a newly created account, and you can see your data on the old profile, you can do a couple of things. I would recommend that you create a new username for yourself and login. Then login with the Administrator account and copy your Desktop and Documents from the old profile to the new one. You can then remove the old username and profile.
Life's more painless for the brainless.
