I have a xp home edition, can I up-grade to XP Prof. without loosing any application files.Is there any way out.

Nope! Sorry, as far as I know you can't run PRO over HOME! you will need to run it from fresh!

Ignore Matt ... Yes you can upgrade to Pro from Home. Just not the other way around. Choose the Upgrade option and XP will preserve your personal files.

Sorry You can't upgrade HOME from PRO AND YOU WIL KEEP ALL YOUR SETTINGS!
I read this all wrong! really sorry! didn't mean to cause confusion!
