I will be upgrading to WINXP Home Edtion soon from WIN98SE. I will use full install. What is expected price to pay for the CD and any pitfalls to be aware of buying it on the Web?

Bill,if you're in the US,you're in my usual place, "a day late and a dollar short". Last week Best Buy was selling the upgrade for $89 and you got a $60 gift card with it.Check your newspapers and maybe E-Bay as I assume a lot were bought to sell and make a few bucks.

Bear in mind when you buy XP Bill that you can use the cheaper upgrade CD to perform a full installation. Many people get tricked iunto thinking they need the full and more expensive version XP to perform full clean installations, but that's not the case.
I'm sure you knew that already but it seemed appropriate to mention it just in case.
